Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Clearview Estimates collects when you use this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written in plain English on purpose.

Effective May 19, 2026 Applies to clearviewestimates.ca

01Who we are

Clearview Estimates is an Ottawa-based construction estimating service operated as a division of Adaline Construction Group. We provide paid, independent renovation cost estimates to homeowners in Ottawa, Kanata, Barrhaven, Nepean, Orleans, Gloucester, and Stittsville.

When this policy uses the words "we," "us," or "our," it means Clearview Estimates. When it uses "you" or "your," it means the person visiting the website or using the service.

The website is hosted at clearviewestimates.ca. The person responsible for privacy questions is Rick Cuetara, the founder. His contact information is in section 12.

02What information we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out a form on this website, we collect what you type into that form. Specifically:

Sample binder request (homepage and landing pages)
Your email address.
Contact form (Questions / Concerns at /contact)
Your name, email address, phone number (optional), and the message you write.
Site-visit booking (at /book-site-visit)
Your name, email address, phone number, and the type of renovation project. Plus the package tier you selected on the pricing page.
Phone calls
If you call us at 613-406-9173, we will know the phone number you called from and what we discussed. We do not record calls.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit any page on this website, our hosting provider and our analytics tools collect some technical information about your visit. This includes:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (typically city-level)
  • The type of device and browser you are using
  • The pages you visited and how long you spent on each one
  • The website that referred you to us (if any)
  • URL parameters such as UTM tags and click IDs (which tell us if you arrived from a specific ad)
  • Cookies set by our analytics and advertising partners (see section 4)

03How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To respond to your request

If you ask for a sample binder, we email it to you. If you submit a question, Rick reads it and replies. If you book a site visit, we use your contact details to confirm timing. We use your information to do the thing you asked us to do.

To deliver our service

If you become a customer, we use your information to schedule the on-site visit, write the estimate binder, and deliver it to you. We may also use it to follow up about the estimate, answer questions about the binder, or check in mid-project.

To improve our website and ads

We use analytics and advertising tools (described in section 5) to understand which pages work well, which ads bring useful visitors, and how to make the site clearer. This data is aggregated; we are not reading individual visitor sessions.

To send marketing communications, but only with consent

We do not send unsolicited marketing emails. If you give us your email by requesting a sample binder, we may follow up once or twice about that specific request. If you become a customer, you may receive emails directly related to your project. We do not add you to an automated newsletter without your permission.

For legal reasons

We may use or disclose information if required by law, by a regulator, or by court order, or to investigate fraud, security incidents, or violations of our terms.

04Cookies and tracking technologies

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Cookies let websites remember things between visits — for example, that you've already submitted a form, or that you arrived from a Facebook ad. We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

Functional

To remember basic things about your visit. We do not use this category to track you across other websites.

Analytics

To understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. Our analytics provider is Google Analytics 4; details in section 5.

Advertising

To measure the effectiveness of our ads and to show relevant ads to people who have already visited our site. Our advertising tools are Google Ads and Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Conversions API; details in section 6.

How to opt out of cookies: Most modern browsers let you block or delete cookies through their privacy settings. You can also use browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger. Blocking advertising cookies may stop us from being able to measure or attribute your visit, but does not affect your ability to use the site.

05Third-party services we use

We use a small number of third-party services to run the site. Each one receives only the data it needs to do its job. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Vercel (web hosting)
Hosts the website and runs the form-submission code. May receive your IP address and request metadata when you visit any page. Vercel privacy policy.
Resend (email delivery)
When you submit a form, the contents of that form are sent to Rick's inbox via Resend's email API. Resend processes the email on its way to delivery. Resend privacy policy.
Google Analytics 4 & Google Ads
We use Google's free analytics tool to understand site traffic and Google Ads to measure ad performance. These services may set cookies and receive technical information about your visit. Google privacy policy. You can opt out at the Google Analytics Opt-Out page.
Meta (Facebook) Pixel & Conversions API
We use Meta's tracking pixel and server-side Conversions API to measure the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertising, and to build retargeting audiences. When you visit the site, Meta may receive technical information about your visit (IP address, browser, page viewed, and a click ID if you arrived from a Meta ad). When you submit a form, we send Meta a hashed version of your email (and other contact fields if you provided them) so Meta can match the conversion to the right ad. Meta privacy policy. You can manage your Meta ad preferences in Facebook Ad Preferences or Instagram Settings.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. The companies above are vendors that process information on our behalf, and they are contractually required to protect it.

06Advertising and remarketing

We advertise on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To make those ads cost-effective, we use the tools described in section 5 to:

  • Measure which ads bring useful visitors to the site
  • Show our ads again to people who visited the site but didn't get in touch ("retargeting" or "remarketing")
  • Find new audiences that look similar to our existing customers ("lookalike audiences")

Personal information sent to advertising platforms (such as your email when you request a sample binder) is hashed using SHA-256 before transmission. The advertising platform receives a one-way fingerprint of the data, not the data itself, which it uses only to attempt a match against its existing user base.

Want to stop seeing our retargeting ads? Visit Facebook Ad Preferences or Google Ads Settings and adjust your advertiser controls. You can also clear cookies in your browser, which will reset our retargeting audience for you.

07Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA — the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), you have the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:

  • Access — you can ask for a copy of the personal information we have on file for you.
  • Correction — you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
  • Deletion — you can ask us to delete your personal information. We will do so, except where we are legally required to keep certain records (for example, accounting records for completed transactions).
  • Withdraw consent — you can tell us at any time to stop using your information for a specific purpose, including stopping marketing communications.
  • Complaint — if you think we have mishandled your information, you can file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

To exercise any of these rights, email rick@clearviewestimates.ca. We will respond within a reasonable time (typically within 30 days).

For visitors in the EU, UK, or California

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR) or California (CCPA / CPRA), you have additional rights under those laws, including the right to know what categories of personal information we have collected, the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and the right to data portability. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any rights under those laws, contact us using the details in section 12 and we will honour the request.

08How long we keep information

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it. In practice:

  • Form submissions (email, name, phone, message) are stored in Rick's email inbox indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them. They are used to respond to you and to keep a record of the conversation.
  • Customer project records (estimate binders, communications, invoices) are retained for at least 7 years to satisfy Canadian tax and accounting record-keeping requirements.
  • Analytics data in Google Analytics is retained for 14 months by default, after which it is aggregated.
  • Advertising platform data (Meta, Google Ads) follows the retention policies of those platforms; typically 24 months for conversion data and 180 days for retargeting audiences.

If you want your information deleted before its standard retention period ends, email rick@clearviewestimates.ca.

09Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information:

  • The website is served over HTTPS — all data you submit is encrypted in transit.
  • Personal data sent to advertising platforms is hashed (SHA-256) before transmission.
  • Access to Rick's email inbox is protected by a password and two-factor authentication.
  • API credentials and access tokens are stored as encrypted environment variables on our hosting platform, not in code or in any public-facing location.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach involving your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant privacy authority as soon as we are reasonably able to.

10Children

Our service is intended for adults who own or are planning to renovate a home. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact rick@clearviewestimates.ca and we will delete it.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the homepage or via email if we have your email address. The current version of the policy always lives at this URL.
